Locos To Host Inaugural 5K Dinner and Run for The Boys & Girls Club of Athens

Locos is pleased to host the Inaugural 5K Dinner and Run for The Boys & Girls Club of Athens on October 21 and 22. The weekend will kickoff October 21 with a "Night Under The Stars" with the music of Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young by Deja Vu. The evening will include a tablecloth dinner, wine, music and silent auction all to benefit the local club. On Saturday, October 22 at 9AM, Locos will host a 5K which will begin and end in the Mooseyard at Locos Harris Street. Refreshments, awards and music will be provided in the Mooseyard following the race. This is always an awesome event and we look forward to it every year! This year's tournament will benefit the Boys & Girls Club, an organization we are very close to. The Boys & Girls Club gives our youth a place to learn and grow and reach their full potential as productive, caring and responsible citizens in our community. UGA Men’s Head Basketball Coach Mark Fox will speak at the 13th annual Girls and Boys Club of Athens Steak and Steak Dinner on Tuesday, April 12 at 6:30 p.m. at The Classic Center in Downtown Athens. The dinner is sponsored by Locos Grill & Pub and Fairway Outdoor Advertising, with proceeds benefitting the club’s three Athens-area clubhouses: Joel E. Smilow, Jack R. Wells and Garnett Ridge. “This is a very unique opportunity for the young people in our clubs to mingle with the business people in our community,” said Director of Development Sterling Gardner. “The kids get a chance to tell them about their experience in the club, and they also get a chance to sharpen their social skills.” Gardner said the dinner celebrates the successes and accomplishments of the club members, with the highlight being the announcement of the 2011 Youth of the Year. Around 120 club members earned an invitation to the dinner through club participation and good behavior, he said. Tickets are $250 per person. A table of six, which includes a half-page ad in the souvenir program, can be purchased for $1,250. A table of eight can be purchased for $2,200, and includes a full-page ad in the souvenir program.
